形态描述
体长，侧扁。头锥形。口亚下位，口裂较大。下颌无锐利角质。唇薄，下唇侧叶狭窄，唇后沟不连续。无须。大部分裸露，仅有臀鳞和少数肩鳞。背鳍刺强，具发达的锯齿，起点稍在腹鳍之前。体侧具多数环状、点状或条状的斑纹。
生物学
This species is found in the upper reaches of the Huanghe River. It resembles Gymnocypris potanini in appearance, but has a stronger dorsal spine, with strong serrations.
